Compact gas handlings Parker Hannifin Corp., Veriflo Division, Richmond, Calif. |
The VMB pressure regulator allows gas
suppliers and panel builders to provide compact gas handling equipment,
thereby minimizing the space required in clean room areas. It is a threadless-style,
non-tied, double-diaphragm regulator for pressure control of high-purity
gases. According to the manufacturer, the VMB is useful for valve manifold
box or panel applications, to distribute high-purity gases to tools or locations
in semiconductor fabrication facilities and high-technology manufacturing
sites and laboratories. The VMB regulator has a compact footprint of just
1.25 sq. in. (31.75 mm). The pressure regulator also has a spherical poppet
design that self-centers for repeatable positive closure. Made from 316L
stainless steel, with Hastelloy C-22 diaphragms and an Inconel poppet, the
VMB is available with either tube stub or face seal connections. |

Gas analyzers MIDAC Corp., Costa Mesa, Calif. |
Titan-OL systems provide real-time,
multicomponent extractive gas phase analysis for online and continuous multipoint
analysis. These systems include a rugged industrial spectrometer system,
gas cells, sample manifold, valve control electronics, and software. Hardware
is enclosed in appropriately rated NEMA enclosures (up to and including
Class 1, Div. 1) or in a standard industrial rack mount cabinet. Fiber optic
distribution electronics provide a single hub for temperature, pressure,
mass flow, external alarm, and optical switching signals, and can accommodate
up to four 12-port manifolds for a total of 48 sample, purge, and calibration
lines. Communication between the hub and control computer is over fast,
stable fiber optic cable. Titan-OL systems take advantage of the company's
new dual ADC architecture and advanced mirror drive control for increased
sensitivity and very low detection levels for a variety of compounds. |

Metal oxide sensors Synkera Technologies Inc., Longmont, Colo. |
The company has launched a new family
of metal oxide sensors based on technology from specialist sensor materials
developer Atmospheric Sensors LLC. This high-performance sensor for measuring
NO2 offers sensitivity over a range of concentrations of the
gas in air combined with a high stability and low response to humidity.
Other metal oxide sensors on the market today for NO2 or NOx
measurement are usually restricted in the range of concentration where they
are useful because of saturation effects, according to the manufacturer.
The Synkera/ ASL product will tolerate a wide range of temperature, pressure,
and humidity levels in addition to the usual rugged performance of a metal
oxide sensor. The sensor also detects gas concentrations from 0 to more
than 200 ppm. This sensor shows good selectivity and virtually no response
to ammonia or carbon monoxide. Examples of market applications for the NO2
sensor include measurement of exhaust levels in parking garages, and NO2
measurement in certain automotive applications and combustion control applications. |

Aerospace wire Tyco Electronics, Harrisburg, Pa. |
Raychem brand SPEC 55 low fluoride
aerospace wire and cable is an advance for aerospace electronics designers
since low-fluoride XL-ETFE wire was not previously available to the industry.
Minimizing fluoride levels in aerospace wire is very important since fluoride
may evaporate from traditional XL-ETFE wire insulations, combine with moisture,
and result in a corrosive substance. Corrosion in the proximity of wire,
cable, and electronics does not bode well for reliability, long life, or
performance of sensitive aerospace electronics. In addition to satellite,
missile, and aircraft applications, SPEC 55 low-fluoride wire and cable
can be used in test and measurement equipment and other sensitive electronic
equipment. According to the company, there is also benefit to assemblies
stored in sealed bags for long periods of time. |
