The VMB pressure regulator allows gas
suppliers and panel builders to provide compact gas handling equipment,
thereby minimizing the space required in clean room areas. It is a threadless-style,
non-tied, double-diaphragm regulator for pressure control of high-purity
gases. According to the manufacturer, the VMB is useful for valve manifold
box or panel applications, to distribute high-purity gases to tools or locations
in semiconductor fabrication facilities and high-technology manufacturing
sites and laboratories. The VMB regulator has a compact footprint of just
1.25 sq. in. (31.75 mm). The pressure regulator also has a spherical poppet
design that self-centers for repeatable positive closure. Made from 316L
stainless steel, with Hastelloy C-22 diaphragms and an Inconel poppet, the
VMB is available with either tube stub or face seal

Metal oxide sensors

The company has launched a new family
of metal oxide sensors based on technology from specialist sensor materials
developer Atmospheric Sensors LLC. This high-performance sensor for measuring
NO2 offers sensitivity over a range of concentrations of the
gas in air combined with a high stability and low response to humidity.
Other metal oxide sensors on the market today for NO2 or NOx
measurement are usually restricted in the range of concentration where they
are useful because of saturation effects, according to the manufacturer.
The Synkera/ ASL product will tolerate a wide range of temperature, pressure,
and humidity levels in addition to the usual rugged performance of a metal
oxide sensor. The sensor also detects gas concentrations from 0 to more
than 200 ppm. This sensor shows good selectivity and virtually no response
to ammonia or carbon monoxide. Examples of market applications for the NO2
sensor include measurement of exhaust levels in parking garages, and NO2
measurement in certain automotive applications and combustion control applications.

Hot melt adhesives

a strong bond between a variety of metals and thermoplastics, such as AES's
Santoprene. Thermoplastic elastomers have become increasingly common, and

and seals) to hand grips for tools and appliances. Because these thermoplastics
have low surface free energy, it is difficult to establish good adhesion.
Unlike some adhesives used for this purpose, ACA's new products make
a bond that is often strong enough to tear the thermoplastic material without
first applying a primer coat, according to the company. By eliminating this
extra step, manufacturers can cut costs and reduce scrap. The new adhesives
are water-based rather than solvent-based, allowing easier cleanup and better
compliance with environmental regulations. The new adhesives bond many different
materials, including several grades of Santoprene, polyethylene, neoprene,
PVC, and natural rubber to metals such as aluminum, stainless steel, galvanized
steel, copper, and brass.

Beswick's miniature cartridge
needle valve promises precise flow adjustment in an very compact package,
according to the manufacturer. It can be used to control mini-cylinders,
nozzles, timing circuits, filling heads, and bleed vents, and in many other
applications as well. It is designed for incorporation into manifold assemblies.
Cartridge valves in concert with a manifold offer a smaller envelope, reduced
assembly time and fewer parts. O-ring seals throughout the valve ensure
a leak proof installation. The cartridge needle valve allows precise flow
control due to 56 threads per inch adjustment and three degree taper of
the needle. The adjusted flow remains stable even during temperature fluctuations
as the needle and valve seat are both manufactured from stainless steel.
Maximum inlet pressure is 300 psig.

The company has expanded its Tactilus
line of dynamic electronic pressure mapping systems with the introduction
of its free-form sensor systems. The systems consist of up to 16 individual
sensing points that can detect pressures up to 60 psi with simple electronics
and a USB interface. These sensors can be used independently or assembled
in a matrix to allow the user the flexibility to move from one application
to the next without the need for a new system. The free-form sensor systems
are useful for such applications as biomechanics, PCB manufacture and polishing,
clamping, door seals, ergonomics, heat seals, LCD bonding, nips, presses,
switches, and lamination.

The Ecolight-TX1 series of molded thermoplastic insert couplings seeks to
combine durability and performance with cost savings. The most significant
technical advantages, according to the manufacturer, are a reduced mass
and moment of inertia, accompanied by a high level of chemical compatibility
and tolerance for heat. These characteristics are said to make the TX couplings
useful for both pump drive and servo applications. These plastics also provide
major cost reduction compared to metals, as the result of decreased production
times and relatively low material cost. The material of the hubs is a glass
fiber-reinforced plastic developed for rigidity and corrosion resistance.
R+W TX couplings have an elastomer element that is press fit between the
two precision-molded coupling halves, giving it zero backlash and guaranteed
concentricity.
