Preform epoxy |
Uniform epoxy is an alternative to
liquid epoxy for high-volume, high-quality epoxy sealing applications. These
preforms are one-part epoxy resins that are solid at room temperature. When
heated, they melt and cure, forming a consistent seal that protects components
from dust, moisture, oil, flux, solvents, conformal coatings, and other
contaminants. Close tolerances on preform configurations, consistent premixed
ratios of resin to catalyst, and consistent viscosity from beginning to
end of batch ensure uniform, high-quality results, according to the manufacturer.
Preforms can be dispensed as rapidly as 200 to 600 parts per minute with
little or no operator training, and extensive operator experience is not
required to produce uniform results. |

Trans- former oil pumps |
Unifin's line of transformer
oil pumps is manufactured under the company's Cardinal brand. To
meet the extreme temperature requirements, the pumps are rated for continuous
duty operating temperature ranges from -40°C to 100°C. The
Cardinal pumps also have other features for transformer oil applications,
such as the capability to permit thermo-siphon flow when the pump is not
operating, allowing natural convection even when the pump is completely
shut off. For long life in the field, all Cardinal pumps offer rugged split
casing design with heavy-duty class 30 cast iron used for the pump casting,
motor enclosures, impellers and volutes. Cardinal pumps are low maintenance
and long-lasting. With no mechanical seals, repair and upkeep are reduced
to using two gasket seals on each pump. The pumps are durable and resilient
because transformer oil can flow back through the motor and bearings, providing
cooling and lubrication. |

Case drain monitoring Hedland, Racine, Wis. |
Unexpected pump failure can be costly
and time-consuming. According to the company, by installing a Hedland direct-reading
flow meter on the pump case drain, the user can monitor changes in efficiency
by keeping tabs on any increase in case drain flow. The excess case drain
flow shows the pump is beginning to fail. This lets the user schedule preventive
maintenance and reduce unexpected downtime. The variable area meter has
a low pressure drop, typically 1-5 psig with an accuracy of 2 percent of
full scale. The meter can be installed in any position without a need for
special piping or flow straighteners. |
