| Collet
chucks Command Tooling Systems, Ramsey, Minn. |
A new line of DR (ER) 32 "Shorty"
collet chucks is for tool shank diameters from 0.079 to 0.787 in. The chucks
have an extremely short projection, so users can maximize workpiece size.
According to the company, tests have shown an increase in machining parameters
(feeds and speeds) of almost three times over conventional collet chucks.
The "Shorty" collet chucks are available in 40 V and 50 V
models. The units feature a nearly flush collet nut that virtually eliminates
tool overhang, improving accuracy while enhancing tool rigidity. Collet
pockets are concentric to the spindle taper to 0.002 in., precisely placing
the tool on the spindle centerline. Taper tolerances are AT3 or better.
These short collet chucks are particularly suited to small vertical machining
centers and multiplex turning machines. |

Lift table Pentalift Equipment Corp., Buffalo, N.Y. |
Pentalift's new lift table is
equipped with a powered deck extension that moves laterally. The 3,000-lb.-capacity
table has a 60 x 84 in. platform with a 50-in. vertical lift. A 48 x 22
in. deck, stored within the platform, can be extended hydraulically to provide
a walk-over bridge for use by maintenance personnel servicing machinery.
Nonslip rubber matting on both the platform and extension deck provides
better footing, while a fail-safe interlocking design prevents the lift
table from raising or lowering unless the extension deck is in a fully retracted
position. Accordion bellows around the lifting mechanism minimizes debris
entry under the lift table. |

Pressure transducer Setra Systems Inc., Boxborough, Mass. |
Setra's Model 595 is a digitally
compensated submersible pressure transducer. Its integral specific gravity
compensation gives a true level reading even when subjected to media temperature
changes over the range of 23°F to 113°F (-5°C to 45°C).
This unit is useful for groundwater and sewer flow monitoring, storm water
studies, stream flow monitoring, infiltration/inflow studies, pump tests,
irrigation, flood warning, sea level, tide, and wave monitoring applications.
Model 595 has 318 stainless steel wetted parts, which makes it resistant
to corrosion and good for long-term submersible operation. Its custom-designed
hermetic header means that water cannot enter the transducer even if the
cable sheath is damaged. Rapid venting is achieved through the large bore
vent tube connected directly to the back of the sensor. The sensor is resistant
to the effects of humidity, which can cause condensation. |

General- purpose transducers Omega Engineering Inc., Stamford, Conn. |
Economically priced but with many features,
the new IP211/EP211 Series from Omega consists of electropneumatic transducers
that decrease supply pressure, converting it to regulated output pressure
in direct proportion to an electrical input signal. The IP211/EP211 Series
accepts a range of supply pressures, from 3 psig (0.2 bar) above the maximum
output to 100 psig (6.9 bar). An integral pneumatic volume booster provides
high-flow capacity up to 12 scfm. Factory-calibrated for direct-acting operation,
these transducers are field reversible. If used in reverse-acting mode,
they require recalibration after the polarity of the signal leads is reversed.
The series incorporates general-purpose, FM intrinsically safe and CSA intrinsically
safe models, all of which mount at any angle. Small and lightweight, IP211/EP211
models can be pipe, panel, or bracket mounted. Price starts at $285. |

Linear actuators Warner Electric, South Beloit, Ill. |
A-Track Series linear actuators incorporates
many new design features, including a round, ground ball nut, a motor shaft
supported by bearings rather than bushings, and limit switch and potentiometer
options. A-Track Series actuators include four models that are available
to meet a variety of application requirements. According to the company,
the round, ground ball nut makes the transition of the ball bearings much
more consistent as opposed to a tapped square unit and gives it better life
characteristics, as does the use of bearings to support the motor shaft
as compared to bushings. With their compact size, A-Track actuators can
be located in confined areas, yet will move loads from 25 to 1,330 lbs.
Weatherproofing makes these actuators good for use on outdoor equipment. |
