Vaporizing pressure regulators Swagelok Co., Solon, Ohio |
New vaporizing pressure regulators are
now available to vaporize liquid samples or preheat gas samples. Two models
are available: The KEV series electrically heated vaporizing pressure regulator
is ATEX (Cenelec) and CSA certified for critical/hazardous environments.
The regulator is used to heat incoming gas samples or vaporize liquid samples
and operates with inlet pressures up to 3,600 psig (248 bar). Designed for
maximum thermal efficiency, the heater is removable and simplifies cleaning.
A choice of 40-, 50-, 100-, 150-, and 200-watt heaters is available. The
KSV series steam-heated, vaporizing, pressure-reducing regulator has low
internal volume and vaporizes liquid samples or preheats gas samples. This
regulator has a maximum rated inlet pressure of 3,600 psi (248 bar) and
outlet pressure ranges up to 500 psig (34.4 bar). Both models feature 316
stainless steel construction. |

Compact encoders |
The company says its Model R112S and
R112B optical rotary incremental encoders are the smallest it has made.
Available in either shafted or blind-hollow shaft versions, the encoders
are 12 mm in diameter and 25 mm long. They have resolutions up to 8,000
Hz/rev, or 32,000 counts/rev after 4X quadrature decode. Gurley says they
are designed for light industrial applications that require high resolution
in small packages, as in medical devices, small instrumentation, compact
motors, and actuators. |

Toggle clamps Carr Lane Mfg. Co., St. Louis, Mo. |
The company's new toggle clamps feature a built-in safety lock. These latch-action clamps have a lock that automatically engages when the clamp is closed, then remains locked until manually disengaged by pressing a lever before opening. The safety lock prevents the latch clamp from being accidentally opened if the handle is bumped. The clamps, made of high-grade steel, come in four sizes, from 700 to 7,500 lbs. holding capacity. These new models, CL-200-LPA, CL-300-LPA, CL-400-LPA, and CL-500-LPA, all have a threaded U-bolt for adjustability and a matching latch plate.

Smaller is better |
Original equipment manufacturers demand smaller sensors to control the temperature of smaller rollers, heaters, products, and fluids in the graphics, medical equipment, defense, and aerospace industries. Infrared temperature sensors as small as 6.35 mm in diameter by 25.4 mm long are available. The sensor is self-powered, and calibrated to have a temperature coefficient that will hold accuracy with changes in ambient conditions. The micro IRt/c has a 1:2 field of view; micro IRt/c.4, a 4:1 field of view; and micro IRt/c.4SV has a 4:1 field of view, side view mount, and a built-in air purge.

| Brushless
motor Servo Magnetics Inc., Canoga Park, Calif. |
In addition to offering the advantages
of a brushless dc motor design, this 12-volt, high-efficiency brushless
dc motor has been designed with efficiency as a major consideration. The
motor is capable of providing in excess of 1 continuous horsepower. It is
intended for low-voltage applications where an efficient high-torque motor
is required. Designed for battery operation, the motor measures 5.38 in.
in diameter by 2.4 in. long. The manufacturer claims it has a typical efficiency
of 90 percent. The design is said to be capable of withstanding continuous
high current demands. High-energy, high-temperature, sintered rare-earth
magnets are used, making it suitable for applications where demanding temperatures
are found. |

Square rails Igus Inc., East Providence, R.I. |
The latest addition to the company's
DryLin W linear guide system is DryLin WQ square rails. They add to the
versatility and flexibility of the modular DryLin W line by reducing friction
and providing the ability to compensate for varying heights. Along with
the addition of DryLin WQ comes the introduction of a new polymer material
designed specifically for use in linear applications. The square design
of DryLin WQ ensures that loads are evenly distributed, and it lowers the
amount of friction encountered by the rail. In applications where the rail
does not travel across a level plane, the plastic liner can be adapted to
float and realign based on differentiating heights. These plastic liners
are made with a new engineered polymer, iglide J200. Iglide J200 is used
exclusively with DryLin W and is designed to provide further reductions
in friction. DryLin WQ is a useful solution for packaging, printing, and
machine tools. DryLin WQ comes in two sizes, 20 mm and 6 mm. |

Personal voltage safety detector AEMC Instruments, Foxborough, Mass. |
A personal voltage detector, Model 44SVD is designed to detect high voltage without physical contact. As the detector is moved toward the voltage-carrying conductor, an ac sensor plate picks up the radiated electric field, which is amplified and processed internally. When the signal exceeds the threshold, a buzzer sounds and the LED is activated. The unit can detect 2.5 kV or 44 kV from up to 30 feet away. |
