Milling cutters

MasterMill high-velocity aluminum (HVA) milling cutters have been designed for the high- speed milling of aluminum, nonferrous metals, and nonmetallics. The system uses a modular design that allows all cutter bodies from 3 to 12 in. to use four standard cartridge styles. The cutters are made from advanced materials to handle high table feeds and heavy cuts. The 7075-T aluminum bodies are hardcoated to 60 Rc and are rated for speeds up to 13,500 rpm. The interchangeable cartridges that fit the MasterMill HVA match cutting material and geometry to the job and are factory weighed for high-speed balance.


Spray nozzle
Spraying Systems Co., Wheaton, Ill.
A lightweight polypropylene FullJet spray nozzle has been designed to resist caking and buildup that can sometimes occur with metal nozzles. The nozzle's full cone-spray pattern with uniform distribution can be used for such applications as washing, rinsing, and dust control. Available in standard or wide versions, the nozzle comes with a 1.5- and 2-in. NPT (F) inlet connection. Standard angle capacities range from 22 to 80 gpm at 40 psi with spray angles from 44 to 86 degrees. Wide- angle capacities include 53 and 101 gpm at 40 psi, with spray angles from 116 to 128 degrees. The 1.5-in. nozzle has a maximum operating pressure of 100 psi; the 2-in. version has 80 psi.


Servo-
amplifier

Copley Controls Corp., Westwood, Mass.
The Model 4212 plug- and-play OEM servoamplifier has an internal 40-pin head that accepts plug-in resistors and capacitors that customize the amplifier for specific motion-control applications, with no need for soldering. The servoamplifier operates from a single-polarity 22- to 125-V dc supply and delivers =/- 6 A continuous output, =/- 12 A peak. Switching rate is 25 kHz, enabling the amplifier to drive servomotors with inductances from 200 µH to 40 mH.


Differential-
pressure transmitter

Model P55 has been designed for industrial pressure-measurement applications. A variable-reluctance sensing technology allows the P55 to be used in a variety of low-pressure measurements where fast dynamic response, high resistance to vibration, and high signal stability through the ambient temperature range are required. Three configurations are available: 4 to 20 mA (current sink), single- ended dc, and isolated dc output. The transmitter is available in an absolute-pressure version with a welded variable-reluctance sensor.


Flow switch
CTE, Deerfield Beach, Fla.
The 500-316 flow monitor has been designed to monitor the rate of air flow through a sample line to an oxygen gas analyzer. The monitor is installed in-line. Air flows through the line at 2 to 4 psig. The unit signals an alarm when the flow rate falls below a specified level. The flow monitor operates in ranges from 0.01 to 25 scfm air and 0.10 to 10 gpm water. Repeatability is =/- 2 percent for increasing or decreasing flows.


Integrated adjustable-
speed drive

Graham Transmissions, Milwaukee, Wis.
The Magnapak integrated dc adjustable-speed drive combines one-piece construction with 48-frame, 56 C-face motor, controller, and operator units. There is no wiring between controller and motor. The controllers are manufactured in 10 ratings from 1/8 to 1 hp and in 110- and 220-V configurations. Other features include full wave control, 1-percent ( =/- ) speed regulation, full torque speed range of 90:1, and a 150-percent overload capability.

Miniature plastic fittings

A line of miniature plastic fittings includes barbed, luer, and threaded fittings. Configurations include tees, Ys, elbows, and couplers. Fittings are available in nylon, polypropylene, polycarbonate, radiation-stable polycarbonate, and Kynar.

Vibration meter

The VM-103 handheld vibration detector has been designed to allow periodic vibration checks of industrial machinery. It detects changes in the vibration signature that could signal impending trouble such as unbalance, misalignment, faulty gears, poor belt drives, or bad bearings.

Disc clutches and brakes
Eaton Corp., Cleveland, Ohio
Pressure-actuated pneumatic disc clutches and brakes are available in standard one- or two-disc designs in five sizes with disc diameters from 9 to 38 in. and static torque ratings up to 2,060,000 lb-in. A low-inertia disc assembly has been coupled with the high-heat sink capacity of the stationary members. Optional split-friction discs allow disc replacement without disturbing other components in the drive system.

Data processing/
control unit

Terminal Module 2 has been designed to provide operator interface and control functions for the Form Talysurf 120- and 50-mm inductive instruments. The easily transportable, stand-alone unit is comprised of a 486/33DX laptop computer with touchscreen facilities, 4-MB of RAM, 80-MB hard drive, and a portable disc drive module for data storage and retrieval. All operating functions are controlled via the touchscreen or computer keyboard.

Metal-seated HPBV

Big Max BX6-Classix is a metal- seated HPBV designed for abrasive/dirty services to 500degF. It is offered in 3- to 12-in. sizes, reportedly meets ANSI FCI 70-2 Class VI leakage-rate criteria, and is available in ANSI Class 150-lb. lug or wafer configurations. An all-metal seat design is included for superior shutoff and abrasion resistance.

Housing seals

seals have been designed for a custom fit of a housing. They are available in a
range of hardnesses for all-plastic or all-metal housings,
and in a range of colors. A round O-ring cross section outseals a flat gasket.

Load cells
Tedea-Huntleigh Inc., Oakbrook, Ill.
Safegard hermetically sealed stainless-steel load cells and Cellmate mountings have been designed for processing equipment used in measuring, batching, blending, and molding plastic products. Cellmate mountings include low-resistance path protection, built-in cable gland protector plate, and other built-in protections against thermal expansion and contraction to reduce load-cell damage and plant downtime.

Industrial oxygen generators

Oxygen generators have been designed for industrial applications. The generators make up to 95 percent pure oxygen on demand. Seven standard units are available for any application requiring 25 to 1,000 scfh of oxygen.

Air-bearing slides

High-precision air- bearing slides have been designed in many travel lengths, load capacities, encoder feedbacks, and motor drives. Standard travel lengths are to 30 in. Straightness is to 1 µin./in. Pitch, roll, and yaw errors are to 1/2 arcsec. Standard vertical-load capacities are to 280 lb.

Peristaltic pumps

The Mityflex 913 series includes bench-top designs with steel cases, variable-
speed flow control, and a three-position switch. They are available in three models with single-head configurations that deliver 0.3 to 800 ml/min. The 913 series is available with a dual head capable of pumping up to 1,500 ml/min. The pump heads are made of polypropylene and have been designed for chemical-transfer applications.

Fiberoptic rotary joint

The Model 215 ultracompact, two-pass, fiberoptic rotary joint has been designed for applications in industrial automation, material-handling systems, turrets, wireline logging, video-surveillance systems, sensor platforms, and cable reels. As an option, the joint can be combined with the company's electrical or fluid slip rings to provide a single, compact package for optical signals, electrical power, and fluid transfer, with ISO9000 quality.

Xtenda cam followers are available in 14 standard sizes from 1/2 to 2 in. Xtenda cam-yoke rollers are offered in 11 standard sizes from 3/4 to 2 in.

Wall-
thickness measurer

Wall Wizard software for this company's ultrasonic wall-thickness measurement system offers improved quality for extruded products as different as medical tubing, multilayer fuel lines, and fiberoptic cable jackets. The software guides operators through a series of steps via pages displayed on a color screen. Wall-thickness readings are established through automatic tuning of the system's high-speed, digital-signal processing. The software allows feedback control based on the product's minimum wall thickness.

Set-screw-
processing technique

Long-Lok Fasteners Corp., Cincinnati, Ohio
A set-screw- processing technique processes small set screws ranging in size from #4 to 1/4 in. The patented Poly-Lok II patch process creates a strong molecular bond between the patching material and the bolt metal. This allows extended temperature capabilities from 400deg to as low as 1100degF.


Differential-
pressure transmitter

Deltabar S has been designed to provide intelligent measurement of level, pressure, and flow under most conditions, including gases, steam, or liquid. Measuring spans from 0.4 in. H2O to 580 psi. The sensor modules, electronics, and housings of the two instrument families are interchangeable. The transmitter can be transformed from differential to pressure measurement in a few steps. Nonlinearity is less than 0.1 percent of the set measuring range and deviation. Long-term stability is 0.1 percent per year.
