Flow signal condi- tioners Omega Engineering Inc., Stamford, Conn. |
The company's FLSC-45 and the new FLSC-45B
are dc-powered frequency-to-analog output signal conditioners that provide
a 4-20 mA or 1-5 V dc field selectable output. The high-performance electronics
accepts a low-level magnetic pickup signal or a high-level dc pulse from
a flow paddlewheel sensor or turbine meter directly without amplification
and converts it into an industry-standard analog output. Both models feature
±0.15 percent of full-scale accuracy, operate on 15-32 V dc with
0.025 percent repeatability and an ambient operating temperature of 20 to
70°C. The new model FLSC-45B has a rugged NEMA 4 (IP66) enclosure and

| Machining
centers Makino, Auburn Hills, Mich. |
The MCC-VG Series of horizontal machining
centers provides simultaneous three-axis machining and slanted hole machining,
accomplished by tilting the spindle at an optimum angle for outstanding
access to the machining point. The tilted spindle on the MCC-VG Series machines
allows for the use of shorter tools to achieve high-efficiency machining.
This prevents the spindle and the tool from colliding with the table. Deep
mold cavities and cooling holes can be machined in the same workpiece setup.
Slanted holes also can be machined continuously at various angles without
changing the setup. The VG comes with Makino's patented through coolant
spindle technology, which the company claims is unique in the marketplace
on an angled-head machine. This technology enhances the speed and accuracy
of drilling angled holes, as opposed to traditional fixed head machines,
due to the natural flushing out of the chips. |

Faster N2 Parker Hannifin Corp. Filtration and Separation Division, Haverhill, Mass. |
A new generation of HiFluxx membrane
has an increased capacity to generate nitrogen from compressed air. The
manufacturer says the membrane can yield a 30 percent increase in capacity
for nitrogen generator modules, to produce more nitrogen using a fiber of
a given size. According to the company, the high permeability of the membrane
permits production of nitrogen at lower pressures so operators can use less
energy than before. Other claims are that it provides consistent nitrogen
output from 32°F to 90°F, and because its fibers are not affected
by particulate contamination, the membrane has a life of at least 10 years. |
