Leadscrew assemblies
Haydon Switch & Instrument Inc., Waterbury, Conn.

A detailed catalog covers leadscrew assemblies, including acme leadscrews, advanced coatings, and technically advanced anti-backlash nuts. The designs eliminate backlash between the screw and the nut and also maximize system stiffness and minimize lost motion. Haydon offers five different nut styles, from freewheeling, non-anti-backlash nuts to a user-adjustable anti-backlash nut. Leadscrew diameters range from 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) to 5/8 in. (15.9 mm) and leads extend from 0.012 in. (0.3 mm) to 1.25 in. (31.75 mm). All Haydon leadscrews are rolled from precision ground 303 stainless steel. The anti-backlash nuts are made from a self-lubricating polyacetal thermo plastic and are suitable for use in many areas, including medical devices and food processing.

Thread rolling screws
Leland Powell Fasteners Inc., Martin, Tenn.
New literature covers Powell's Lo-Driv thread rolling screws and Grip-Lite screws. It offers a full description, features, safety points, and strip-out ratios for each screw. Grip-Lite screws are designed for thin sheet metal applications. These screws offer tight assembly with increased strip-out torque, improving joining strength, and a radius point for safety. Grip-Lite Screws lower assembly costs and eliminate the need for clips and inserts. Lo-Driv thread rolling screws lower assembly operation costs by improving the speed of assembly, reducing operator fatigue and strip-out problems, and eliminating cross threading and the need for pretap holes.
