Multi- function boards Omega Engineering Inc., Stamford, Conn. |
These high-performance OMB Daqboard-3000
Series PCI boards offer 16-bit/1 MHz multifunction synchronous I/O at competitive
prices. This is accomplished by incorporating a high level of integration.
Features include a 16-bit/1-MHz A/D converter, 16 analog input channels
(user expandable to 64), up to four 16-bit/1 MHz analog outputs, 24 high-speed
digital I/O, two timer outputs, and four 32-bit counters. The OMB-Daqboard-3000
is also compatible with the optional OMB-PDQ30 expansion module, which allows
the system to accept up to 24 thermocouple inputs. The new DaqView software
included here is an application that enables setup, data logging, and real-time
data viewing without any programming skills. For those users creating custom
programs, software drivers are provided for most common programming languages,
as well as DASYLab, Matlab, and LabView. Prices start at $549. |

| Pump
trap Spirax Sarco Inc., Blythewood, S.C. |
The APT14HC is the latest addition
to the company's line of automatic trap pumps. It is engineered to
eliminate condensate handling problems, including poor heat transfer, irregular
temperature control, corrosion, noise and waterhammer, tube failure, and
high maintenance costs. It is designed to automatically collect and remove
condensate the instant it forms in equipment such as process vessels, heat
exchangers, heaters, and vacuum and temperature-controlled equipment. The
steam-powered APT14HC requires no electrical power, making it suitable for
hazardous environments, and it operates even in a vacuum. The compact pump
is designed for use at a maximum temperature of 388°F (198°C)
and a maximum pressure of 200 psig. |

Aspheric lenses Rolyn Optics Co., Covina, Calif. |
Rolyn now offers precision molded polymer
aspheric lenses for infinity conjugates in both 12.7 and 25.4 mm diameters.
All 12.7 mm diameter lenses have an 11.4 mm clear aperture. All 25.4 mm
diameter lenses have a 23.9 mm clear aperture. The 25.4 mm lenses can be
mounted in Rolyn's 90.0160 Universal lens mounts with a 23.4 clear
aperture. All edge thicknesses are 2 mm. Focal lengths from 12.7 through
127 mm are available in the 12.7 mm diameter and 25.4 through 254 mm are
available in the 25.4 mm diameter. The acrylic material has an index number
of 1.49 and ABBE number of 61.4, and exhibits low birefringence. |

Measuring stress PCB Piezotronics Inc., Depew, N.Y. |
Series M240 ICP strain sensors from
the company's Force/Torque division use piezoelectric sensing elements
to indirectly measure dynamic and quasi-static forces on machinery structures.
These strain sensors feature high rigidity and have no moving parts inside
them, so are not susceptible to fatigue or sensitivity changes over millions
of cycles. They are useful for industrial process control and product quality
assurance applications that require the measurement of repetitive cycles.
In typical applications, upper and lower control limits are set to follow
a desired force curve for the process, and if the actual force curve deviates
from the control limits, the process is shut down. This prevents acceptance
of non-conforming parts as finished goods. Applications include clinching,
crimping, metal forming, plastic injection molding, pressing, punching,
spot welding, stamping, and automatic assembly operations. |

Liquid flow sensor McMillan Co., Georgetown, Texas |
Models 104 and 107 liquid Flo-Sensors
precisely measure flow rates of fluids as low as 13 mL/minute, and are designed
as an electronic alternative to ball-and-tube rotameters. Stainless steel
construction guarantees compatibility with virtually any chemical, including
many solvents and organic compounds, according to the company. A linearity
of ±1.0 percent (full scale) and ±0.2 percent repeatability
(full scale) provides accurate readings for critical applications. An analog
0-5V dc output and pulse output are both provided standard; 4-20 mA outputs
and an integrated display are optional. |

Com- bustion and emission analyzer E Instruments Group, Langhorne, Pa. |
The GreenLine 4000 portable gas analyzer
is a multifunctional unit that is useful for industrial service and maintenance
purposes, including boilers, burners, heaters, and other industrial applications.
According to the company, the lightweight GreenLine 4000 provides the latest
technology in flue gas analysis, including sensors that detect O2, CO, NO,
NO2, SO2, CxHy, and CO2. It also detects excess air, analyzes losses, and
does efficiency calculations. The 4000 has a CO sensor with automatic protection,
a built-in impact printer, and a flammable gas leak detector. It can do
draft and differential pressure measurement, measures gas velocity with
a Pitot tube, and can measure smoke, as well. |

System for rack control devices Igus Inc., East Providence, R.I. |
Micro Speed-E-Chain is the company's
latest Energy Chain System for storage and retrieval systems. It is a space-saving,
compact system for rack control devices that operates safely and silently
at high speeds. It complements the company's larger protective guide-trough
offering, called Speed-E-Chain. Micro Speed-E-Chain is a useful alternative
to busways, busbars, festoons, and other types of electrification supplies.
It offers the benefits of a traditional Energy Chain cable carrier, including
cable protection, extension of service life and elimination of maintenance
and downtime. Micro Speed-E-Chain is designed for storage and retrieval
systems, extendable conveyors, material handling applications, and tool
changers. The system is composed of a uniquely designed Energy Chain installed
in an aluminum guide trough, with a rolling attachment on the underside
through which the cables are fed down to the machine. The top of the trough
is closed to protect against dirt, dust, and contaminants. Any type of cable
or conduit can be used. |

Linear encoders Heidenhain Corp., Schaumburg, Ill. |
The mechanics and electronics of the
company's LC Series of absolute linear encoders have been fundamentally
redesigned from the ground up to better meet today's measurement requirements
in machine tools, and now include two interfaces Heidenhain's EnDat
2.2 and FANUC 02. Heidenhain's new encoders are the LC 183 and 483 series
with EnDat interface and LC 193 and 493 with FANUC interface. These encoders
offer more electrical advantages than ever before, according to the company,
including making purely serial axis-control possible. The resolution of
the absolute position value is 5 nm for encoders with an accuracy grade
of ±3 µm, and 10 nm for encoders with an accuracy grade of
±5 µm with the EnDat versions. Also regardless of the measuring
length, the data word length is 32 bits, and with a clock frequency of 8
MHz, the formation of the position value and transfer takes approximately
20 µs. Both output formats also incorporate the single-field scanning
technique, ensuring optimum signal quality, high traversing speed, and contamination
resistance. |
